Georgia Ann Aletha Dixon 1
Georgia was named for the State of Georgia and after her Grandmother, Aletha (Leathy) Elizabeth Whittle. She had five brothers and was the only girl. She and Jasper lived with her mother, Eliza Clements Dixon, older brother John Jefferson and his wife Lydia Carter until 1869. She and Jasper had their first child, Homer, in 1868 in Stewart or Webster County prior to moving to Enterprise, Florida in 1869. My father’s name came from one of her younger brothers was Marshall Lafayette (Coot) Dixon who died from a fall in 1894. Georgia married James Jasper Nicholson, son of Archibald Nicholson and Mary Elizabeth Hall, on 1 Nov 1866 in Preston, Webster Co., GA. (James Jasper Nicholson was born on 30 Nov 1843 in Stewart Co., GA and died in 1887 in Geneva, Orange/Seminole Co., FL.) |
